Somerfield Kwik Save PLC and Royal Bank of Scotland.
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) aims to
end the discrimination which many disabled people face and gives
those rights in the areas of employment, access to goods, facilities
and services.
The final rights of access came into force in October 2004 where the new duties will apply to service providers whose physical features make accecss to their services impossible or unreasonably difficult.
There are about 10 million disabled adults in
this country and the DDA gives them important rights of access to
everyday services that others take for granted.
Somerfield KwikSave PLC and RBS (through Syles & Wood) appointed Quadron to carry
out works on 300 stores and 50 banking establishments in order that they become DDA compliant in time
for the implementation date.
